Jim Kirchherr explains who’s covered, who’s not and how ACA intends to cover the uninsured, who would be included in Medicaid expansion and what is being offered to states to pay for it.

Dr. Heidi Miller of Family Care Health Centers, and supporter of Medicaid expansion, explains how access to primary care services can prevent life altering illness. Senator John Lamping explains why many politicians in Missouri oppose it.

Citing the University of Missouri study, “The Economic Impact of Medicaid Expansion in Missouri”, Gov. Nixon announced his support of Medicaid Expansion.

House speaker Tim Jones (R) has been outspoken about he opposition to the Affordable Care Act.. In an interview with Jim Kirchherr, Jones explains his reason for not supporting Medicaid Expansion and what Missouri Republicans propose in its place.

This segment addresses the health and economic issues of rural areas and focuses on concerns that rural hospitals will be at risk of closing if Medicaid is not expanded and DSH payments are cut back. This is examined through Salem Hospital.

Jo Mannies and Jason Rosenbaum of the St. Louis Beacon and Chris McDaniels of St. Louis Public Radio discuss the outlook for this legislative session and how the debate over the issue could evolve in the future.
